"The Ballad of Marga"

- by Kelly Brandon (c. 1990?)

A lady named Marga, it seems,
complimented her friends to extremes.
To praise them still higher
she rented a choir
Which sang, hyberbolic, in reams.
Her friends were all architectonic.
To meetings she wooed them (platonic).
She begged, "Please be there.
We need someone with flair."
They eagerly lapped up the tonic.
The truth in her unrestrained zeal
is that everyone knew it was real.
Every board, each committee
was active and witty
'cause Marga arranged the whole deal.
