Tony Callison AIA

AIA Seattle Medal 1998

Anthony "Tony" Callison (1932-1998, BArch UW 1956) began his practice of architecture and interior design in 1960, doing small residential remodels.  In 1970, he joined with Bud Erickson and Bob Hobble to form Callison Erickson Hobble.

Nordstrom, which had recently acquired Best's Apparel, hired the firm to remodel their existing department store in Spokane.  The success of this project led to Callison's long-term relationship with Nordstrom and to the firm's work on more than 200 stores across the country.  In 1973 Tony formed Callison Partnership, which went on to open offices throughout the US and abroad.
Notable projects in Seattle include the US Bank Center (later known as City Centre, home to the Callison office), Park Place Building; Hilton, Crowne Plaza, and Renaissance Hotels; ACT Theatre/Eagles Auditorium; Koll Center in Bellevue, Seahawks Training Facility in Kirkland; Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine.

The Medal, presented posthumously, acknowledges Tony's influential engagement with his fellow professionals across the design industry, through active engagement with AIA Seattle and AIA national colleagues.
