John L. Wright FAIA

A native of Bismarck, North Dakota, John LeBaron "Jack" Wright FAIA (1916-2015) studied architecture at the University of Illinois. After graduating in 1941 he joined the United States Engineering Department, serving in British Guiana in South America where he worked on the construction of airfields and barracks.

Back in Seattle Jack joined the architecture firm of Jones and Bindon in 1947, then became junior partner of Bindon and Wright in 1954, and in 1968 senior partner in Wright Gildow Hartmann Teagarden and Associates.

He served as President of AIA Seattle 1965-66 and AIA Washington Council in 1967; and in 1970-72 on the AIA national Board as Director of the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region.

Active in civic affairs, he served on the Executive Committee of Forward Thrust, as Chairman of the Redmond Planning Commission, as a member of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, and President of Seattle Urban Renewal.
