MA get involved and have your say

Get involved

The PG Forum is the heart of the postgrad community and voice for students in the department - find out more on their Google site and join the Facebook group!

Join the history postgraduate community on Facebook.

Find out about the department's wider research culture and upcoming events.

History Matters is a shared blog from the Department, where you'll find cutting-edge research, the history behind the headlines, and why we think history really matters.

Contributors are made up of staff, students, alumni and friends. If you are interested in getting involved get in touch with our Digital Media and Communications officer.

New Histories is a student-led e-zine, making historical writing accessible to a wider audience through articles on a range of topics written, edited and published by students.

If you are interested in getting involved, keep an eye out for regular calls for articles via email.

The Students' Union is a great way to get involved in extra curricular activities such as sports, societies and other events.

Have your say

Talk to the Academic Reps and PG Forum

You don't have to be an academic rep to have your say.

Academic reps are there to represent the views of all MA students in the Department. As a team, they will be proactive in seeking out the thoughts of the MA cohort but you don't have to wait - if you have any concerns or questions, you are welcome to get in touch with them at any point during the year.

Talk to the Postgraduate Team

You can also get in touch with the PG Team directly - we're here to help!

So if you have any questions that aren't answered in this site, are experiencing difficulties, or want to raise a more general concern or issue, you are welcome to email or call into our student hours.

It might be that we can answer a question, or help you resolve an issue quickly, or we can feed a particular topic into the next Education Committee meeting.

Tell US: module and programme evaluations

Dr James Shaw explains why TellUs matters in this short video.

You will be invited to feedback on each module that you take as part of your MA studies, as well as on the MA programme as a whole.

This is a really important way of helping us to continue improving what we offer to all MA students.

The TellUs module survey for this semester is live until Friday 16th December 2022. This is your opportunity to provide feedback on the modules that you have studied so far.

Become an academic rep and work with the PG Forum

The main deadline to be an academic rep has now passed but it's not too late to get involved! If you're interested please contact us at history.maenquries@sheffield.ac.uk.

The Academic Rep system is one of the ways that MA students can shape the History MA programme. You can feed back your thoughts on how the MA works to the MA Academics Reps or become a rep yourself.

In History, the MA Academic Rep system works in conjunction with the PG Forum. The PG Forum is a voice for PG students in the Department, working to enhance the experience of postgraduate students of all levels.

The department has a variety of committees and MA academic reps - as well as elected Research students - sit on these committee.

If you have any questions about becoming an MA academic rep, or how the system works in History, you can get in touch with the PG Team at history.maenquiries@sheffield.ac.uk
