Department of History

Welcome to the History Department's International Exchange page.

If you are an undergraduate, MA or PGR student who is interested in spending time abroad, or you are studying in Sheffield as a visiting student, this page is for you.

International exchange programmes provide excellent opportunities for Sheffield students to study abroad and for students from our partner institutions to study at the University of Sheffield.

The University of Sheffield is a world-class university, and Department of History is one of the largest, most active and successful centres for teaching and historical research in the UK. Our historians are engaged in cutting-edge research in a huge variety of fields which range from the first century right up to the twenty first, and with particular strengths in British, European, African and American history. The Department of History delivers excellent high quality history education and research, and encourages undergraduate students to study abroad through its exchange programmes.

The Department of History’s rules and application requirements for exchange programmes are in line with the University's Global Opportunities and Exchanges programmes.
