Formatting your coursework

The Sheffield History Style Guide provides detailed guidance on how to format your work. Some general principles apply to almost all of our written coursework:

• Double space the main text (but not the footnotes)

• Use a 12 point font for the main text and 10 point font for the footnotes.

• Add page numbers so we can reference them in your feedback

• Unless clearly stated otherwise include footnotes and a bibliography. These may not be required in some shorter assignments, but check the module handbook or ask your tutor if you are not sure.

• Use the cover sheet to briefly (a line is sufficient) indicate any areas you'd like us to address in your feedback
