Formatting your coursework
The Sheffield History Style Guide provides detailed guidance on how to format your work. Some general principles apply to almost all of our written coursework:
Double space the main text (but not the footnotes)
Use a 12 point font for the main text and 10 point font for the footnotes.
Add page numbers so we can reference them in your feedback
Unless clearly stated otherwise include footnotes and a bibliography. These may not be required in some shorter assignments, but check the module handbook or ask your tutor if you are not sure.
Use the cover sheet to briefly (a line is sufficient) indicate any areas you'd like us to address in your feedback
History Hacks offers further guidance on specific forms of assessment like essays, gobbets, and reflective writing.
