Full-time
You will choose modules totalling 180 credits over the full year of study - this includes 120 credits of taught modules plus a Dissertation worth 60 credits.
You will take three core modules worth 105 credits and your remaining 75 credits will be made up of option modules.
Part-time
You will choose modules totalling 180 credits over the two years of study - this includes 120 credits of taught modules plus a Dissertation worth 60 credits.
You will take three core modules worth 105 credits - an approaches module (year one) and both the Research Presentation and the Dissertation (year two). Your remaining 75 credits will be made up of option modules. We recommend spreading your overall credits evenly across both years of study to create a balanced workload.

HST6601: Approaching the Middle Ages (30 credits, semester 1)
HST6560: Dissertation in History (60 credits, semesters 1 & 2)
HST6802: Research Presentation (15 credits, semester 2)
Option modules (75 credits)
You will take 75 credits of option modules normally including 3 x 15 credit history options and 1 x 30 credit history option. See the full-time or part-time information (links above) for a standard breakdown per semester.
Up to 30 credits can be swapped for modules from the guided (non-history) modules listed below.

AAP6135 Society and Culture in the Later Middle Ages (15 credits)
AAP61001 Archaeology in the Classical Mediterranean (15 credits)
Languages for All modules where relevant to your programme of study. These modules are 10 credits and must be taken alongside the appropriate Enhanced Languages module (5 credits).
Semester two:
AAP6143 Later Neolithic & Bronze Age Britain & Ireland (15 credits)
AAP6219 Digital Cultural Heritage: Theory and Practice (15 credits)
Languages for All modules where relevant to your programme of study. These modules are 10 credits and must be taken alongside the appropriate Enhanced Languages module (5 credits).
