We have a brand new department Instagram account launching on Thursday 24 August. Follow us @unishefhistory to stay updated on news, events, and more.

Find out about the department's wider research culture and upcoming events.

History Matters is a shared blog from the Department, where you'll find cutting-edge research, the history behind the headlines, and why we think history really matters.

Contributors are made up of staff, students, alumni and friends. If you are interested in getting involved get in touch with our Digital Media and Communications officer.

The Students' Union isn't just for taught students, so can be another great way to get involved in extra curricular activities and events.

Have your say

Annual review

As part of the Annual Review process, you are given the opportunity to feedback on your experience as a research student and your supervisory arrangements.

If you experience any specific difficulties at any point during your studies, you are also encouraged to discuss these with your personal tutor, or a member of the postgraduate support team

Become a student rep and work with the PG Forum

The department has a variety of committees including a Postgraduate Committee and a Research and Innovation Committee. Students from the Research programme are elected to represent your views at both of these meetings. MA representatives will also attend Postgraduate Committee.

There is also the opportunity to get represent research students at Faculty level through the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Postgraduate Forum.

Elections take place in the PG Forum at the beginning of the academic year - you'll be sent information about how to get involved via email.
