How to let us know about extenuating circumstances, ask for an extension, what to do if you are experiencing attendance difficulties or need to take time out. As well as MA specific information about support for a pre-existing medical conditions.

Beky Hasnip oversees student support and wellbeing in history and, alongside Chris Mowat, is a key contact if you need to discuss support needs at any point during your studies.
You're welcome to come and talk to us about any issues you experience whether this is short-term illness / personal issues or more ongoing circumstances. We are available to support you, discuss any impact on your academic studies and point in you in the right direction for specialist help.
Beky and Chris both have a range of student hour slots each week and you are very welcome to book an appointment. You can also email our welfare email history.mawelfare@sheffield.ac.uk to ask questions or check availability at another time. Meetings can take place in person, phone or via Google Meets - whichever you prefer.
Riley Jackson makes up the rest of the postgraduate admin team, supporting the student rep system, assessment processes and the history community.

The wider education team is headed up by James Shaw, who is Director of Education for the School of History, Philosophy and Digital Huminites. James has overall responsibility for taught student education and you are very welcome to get in touch if you have questions or concerns that you'd like to raise with him.

Each MA programmes has an academic lead who is responsible for learning and teaching in their subject area and works closely with the rest of the postgraduate team to support student welfare.

Your academic tutor is a key contact during your degree. They are a consistent point of support for your academic progress and personal/professional development.
They are available to discuss your progress, provide support within history and also know where best to point you for specialist help or any additional skills development you may be interested in.
