PGR annual reviews
Each year, you will have two review meetings with your supervisory team where you will discuss and feedback on your progress over the previous six months.
As part of the Annual Review process, you will discuss your engagement with the Doctoral Development Programme and complete a new Training Needs Analysis form.
The Annual Review also gives you the opportunity to feedback on your experience as a research student and your supervisory arrangements.
If you experience any specific difficulties at any point during your studies, you are also encouraged to discuss these with your personal tutor, the Director of Graduate Studies or the Postgraduate Student Experience Manager.
Annual Review
How it works:
Your primary supervisor will arrange a suitable time to meet with you and your secondary supervisor to discuss your progress with your thesis and the Doctoral Development Programme during the preceding academic year as well as your training and development needs for the coming academic year
Before the meeting you should prepare your section of the annual review form (individual Google Docs have been shared with students and supervisors via email) and a review your TNA and Development Plan
After the meeting you should
update your TNA and Development Plan
finalise the annual review form and confirm to history.pgrenquiries@sheffield.ac.uk once it's complete
optional - provide feedback on your supervision
the deadline for annual review forms is 5pm Friday 13 October 2023
Bi-Annual Review
How it works:
Your primary supervisor will arrange a suitable time to meet with you and your secondary supervisor to discuss your progress in the last six months. You should also discuss your progress with the Doctoral Development Programme and your training and development plans for the coming six months.
Before the meeting you should prepare your section of the bi-annual review form and a review your TNA and Development Plan
After the meeting you should
update your TNA and Development Plan
finalise the bi-annual review form and confirm to history.pgrenquiries@sheffield.ac.uk once it's complete
