May I suggest exploring the FDR Library, reading The Who Was Eleanor Roosevelt? and Who Was Franklin Roosevelt? books, and talking about polio, how vaccines work, and physical disabilities. If you have yet to watch the Ken Burns documentary on the Roosevelts, now Is the perfect time!
One more fact: Late in life, Eleanor Roosevelt was the First ever United States Representative AND Chair of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. At the end of her tenure, she received a standing ovation from the United Nations body - the only person ever in history to receive that honor.
In the summer of 2017, I went with friends to the Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Franklin and Eleanor's beloved summer home.
This picture hangs on my parent's fridge (Campabello, 2017). When my nephew Caleb was about 2 1/2, he would point to the picture and say, "That's Emily!" and "That's Emily's house!" That's right, Caleb, it's totally my house...because it's a National Park and our parks belong to all Americans!
