Born Wendy Red Star on April 13, 1981, in Billings, MN. She is Apsáalooke, which is the Native name for the Crow Tribe of Montana.
Her mother is Apsáalooke and her father is of Irish ancestry. She grew up on the Crow Tribe of Montana reservation.
Earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Montana, Bozeman in 2004, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006.
Known for creating humorous depictions of American Indian stereotypes, particularly the assumed relationship with nature. She works in many media including photography, sculpture, beadwork, performance art, painting, and fashion design.
