THE TITANIC SINKS

The Titanic was found in 1985 by Robert Ballard, 73 years after its sinking.  On that day of discovery, a Titanic survivor named Eva Hart shared her story in a news program the day that the Titanic was found.  She was just seven years old when she and her mother escaped the Titanic.

National Geographic has a fantastic website about the Titanic, and its Washington DC museum holds many artifacts and individual stories from the ship.  In 2018, CBS Sunday Morning visited The National Geographic Museum and toured an exhibition about the Titanic and some of its hidden secrets.  National Geographic Kids has an interesting website on the Titanic, that includes more detail to the story as well as pictures.  You can also read more about the Titanic in the National Geographic Kids book on the subject, or in the What Was The Titanic? book.  There is also a good Brainpop about the Titanic.

There are many museums to visit to learn more about the Titanic.  There are two Titanic Museum attractions, one in Pigeon Forge, TN, and one in Branson, MO, and a Titanic Historical Society in Indian Orchard, MA.  If you visit Nova Scotia, be sure to go to their Maritime Museum

The Titanic was built in Belfast, Ireland, where there is also a museum.  Its maiden voyage departed Southampton, England and was set to arrive in New York City.  Southampton has the Seacity Museum that chronicles its nautical history, including the connection to the Titanic.  Survivors of the tragedy were taken to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Their Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has a collection of stories of survivors as well as artifacts from the Titanic that washed up on their shores.
