Manet studied art under Thomas Couture, and spent most of his time painting in the Louvre, Paris
He was friends with painters Egdar Degas, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cezanne
Èdouard Manet was an impressionist painter who chose to paint people in everyday life situations, instead of posed portraits. He was famous for painting women with a far off look in their eyes - leaving viewers to wonder what the subjects were thinking.
