Wayne Thiebaud (1920 - 2021)
Born on November 15, 1920, in Mesa, AZ, and has lived most of his life in Sacramento, CA
Known for painting common objects like ice cream, cake, paint cans, lipsticks, and pies
Apprenticed at Disney, and got to work on projects drawing Goofy, Jiminy Cricket, and Pinocchio
He served in the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Air Force during WWII from 1942-1945
He passed away on December 25, 2021 at the age of 101.
Wayne Thiebaud was recently interviewed by his hometown magazine about his upcoming birthday. In 2002, he was interviewed by CBS Sunday Morning about his retrospective exhibit. There is a short video about his style from Smithsonian Magazine.
