Dear LCMS Panther Families,
This week the administration team visited all classrooms to remind students about the PAWS Expectations and to specifically address behaviors we are seeing around campus. Please help by encouraging them not to engage in horseplay and to keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times - this includes pulling on a backpack or flicking someone's hat off their head. Oftentimes what starts out as a joke ends up being something more and consequences must be given.
We have also had a few calls and emails with questions about bullying. If your child tells you that something is going on, please encourage them to report it. We cannot fix it if we don't know about it. Per the SCPS Student Conduct and Discipline Code, Bullying is systemically and chronologically inflicting physical hurt or psychological distress. Please encourage your child to report anything before it gets to that point. Students can report issues to Ms. Freund, Mrs. Borosky and Dr. Bridges in the Student Services office or at lunches. It is our goal for all students to feel safe on campus. During our visits we also encouraged everyone to think of a trusted adult that they have on campus. Everyone should have someone that they feel safe going to.
Please see the updated club listing below.
Have a great week!
Don't forget, Panthers always:
Practice Safety
Act Responsibly
Work Hard
Show Respect
Go Panthers! #PawsUp
Sincerely,
Dr. Melissa Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles MS

Beginning on November 6, 2024, students in grades 6 - 8 will have the opportunity to participate in the Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Safety Survey.
In the SCPS Strategic Plan, System Initiative D: Conditions for Learning outlines conditions that benefit student learning. One of the conditions for learning is physical safety. Student learning is optimized when students feel safe and have supportive, positive relationships with peers and adults on a school campus. Student voice is an important part of continuously improving conditions for learning and making actionable changes on a school campus.
Students’ identities on all surveys will be completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions. To review the survey questions, please go to https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/district/departments/assessmentaccountability/5essentials/
If you DO NOT want your student to participate, fill out the information in the letter below and ask your student to return it to the office.
