Dear LCMS Panther Families,
Happy New Year!
I hope that you found time to relax and unwind over break. As we start this second half of the school year, I would like to take a moment to remind all of our students and parents of our focus for the year.
Our theme this year is All In. Our goal this year is to reach ALL of our students so that ALL students feel welcome at school. Please view this video from Paws52 that introduced the concept of All In to our students at the beginning of the year:
Here at LCMS, we are All In for our kids, committed to giving our best for our students each and every day. #AllIn
In the spirit of our All In theme, we also need for our students to be All In. That means not only to give it their all academically in the classrooms, but to also give it their all with regards to behavior. Towards the end of the fall semester, we noticed an increase in inappropriate behavior and comments, including racial slurs, towards other students. Please remind your children that this is unacceptable and will lead to serious consequences, including suspension. Their focus this spring should be on being the best all-around person they can.
Here's to an amazing second half of the school year!
Dr. Melissa Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles MS
As we begin this second semester, all 8th graders are expected to follow the direction of the letter below in order to participate in the 8th grade celebrations at the end of the school year. Hard copies will be distributed January 2 in all ELA classes.

Students are asked to bring:
Grey t-shirt and Black shorts
Combination lock for locker (no key locks)
Laced sneakers
Cold weather procedures are for students to change into shirt and shorts and wear sweatpants/sheatshirt over P.E. clothing. Florida temperatures vary throughout the day and students become overheated. Wearing clothing to peel off layers helps prevent any medical risks!
If you choose to order P. E. Uniform:
Go to SCPS Website/ Food Service
At the bottom of the page see icon for MYSCHOOLBUCKS
Click and login (Create an account if needed)
Once logged in, go to School store and not meal accounts
Go to Accounts for school Products, Then PE Uniforms
If you have any questions, please email Coach O'Neill patricia_oneill@scps.k12.fl.us
Our PBIS slogan is PawsUp!
Please help us to remind our students to exhibit these behaviors campus-wide.
If your student would like to change an elective course for the Spring semester, please complete this form.
Please note: All students are required to take 1 semester of PE each year. All students must take iJourney and at least 1 other iSeries course before leaving middle school.
Deadline to submit: Wednesday, January 4th. Schedule changes will not be made after January 6th.
Please be aware that not every class is available every period. Many classes are already full and do not have room for additional students to be added. As a result, not all requests will be able to be honored.
Teacher preference is NOT an option. And please only submit one request form per student.
We are happy to announce that we are now offering virtual on-demand homework help for all students. Students just need to login through Clever. Please see the flyer and videos below for more information:

Our Spring Showcase is a night for you to come see all of the great things happening in classrooms across campus. This is also a time for our incoming 5th grade Panthers to visit our school. Please be sure to save this date & invite your friends!
As you start cleaning out your closets to get ready for the holidays, please consider us for donations of white Christmas lights for our Spring Showcase. Donations can be dropped off in the Front Office to Dr. Taylor's attention.
