Dear LCMS Panther Families,
We did it! We made it through the first quarter of the school year. As we move into the holiday season, events will happen more frequently with both Band and Chorus concerts in addition to Cross Country meets between now and the Winter Break. Please be sure to refer to the LCMS Calendar on our website for these and other important dates. All testing for the year has also been added to this calendar. https://lcms.scps.k12.fl.us/calendar/
Thank you to those who attended the PBIS Orlando Magic Game last Friday. It raised $1,135 for PBIS!!
***Please note - Quarter 1 Report Cards will be viewable in the Student Portfolio in Skyward Student & Family Access tomorrow October 22.
Have a great weekend!
Dr. Melissa Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles MS

ATTENTION CREATIVE and TALENTED panthers!
The November 4th deadline for Lawton Chiles Middle School Reflections program is coming up soon! Students may submit an original entry that relates to this year's theme "Show Your Voice!" in any of the following categories: Visual Art, Photography, Music Composition, Film Production, Literature and Dance Choreography. Students can email entries to: LCMSPTSAReflections@gmail.com or drop off entries in the Reflections box in the Growl Grill.
Everyone who enters will receive 2 Panther bucks and an invite to a DONUT PARTY! Check out our big donut poster in the Growl Grill with sprinkles for everyone who enters! DONUT be left out!!
Check out our rules and entry form!
Please take note of our No Drop Off policy. To increase security on our campus, the administration does not allow items to be dropped off for students in the front office. This includes, but is not limited to: lunches, projects, textbooks, homework, etc. Also, there is no student check out after 3:30pm (2:30 on Wednesdays).
While we do understand this may prove to be inconvenient to you and your student, please understand that the security and safety of all our students and staff is our Number One concern. Please review with your student what is needed each day for school in order to stop the need for dropping off materials. We appreciate your understanding and full cooperation.
Please read the information regarding our SCPS Safety Survey. The purpose of the safety survey is to provide your student with the opportunity to voice their concerns regarding the conditions that benefit student learning and campus safety. If you do not want your student to participate in the survey, please sign the letter and return it to the front office by October 28th, 2022.
The SCPS Safety survey will be administered online. To preview the questions that students will respond to click here.

Come run with us!!
The link is below, but you MUST sign up as part of the Lawton Chiles Middle School Team in order for us to get credit for our team. Here's information on why we want to have a team together. This money will go directly to the LCMS Sports Program.
SCHOOL GRANT FOR LARGEST TEAMS-
Every year, the race offers three $500 grants for the largest elementary, middle, and high-school teams. But there is ONE caveat: the minimum team size needed to be running is 25 people. They have had teams as large as 40 people before, so this is no big deal :) We're going for BIG here, so wrangle up a few more friends to come walk through history with you!!
Remember, students still in school pay "your age" as the registration fee through October 18! (If you are 5 years old, the registration is $5 through October 18th).
As you start cleaning out your closets to get ready for the holidays, please consider us for donations of white Christmas lights for our Spring Showcase. Donations can be dropped off in the Front Office to Dr. Taylor's attention.
The middle and high school magnet application period is now open. Apply today for the 2023-2024 school year! https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/district/departments/assignment-access/high-school-magnets.stml
