Dear LCMS Panther Families,
We have had an amazing first week back and start of the second semester. We have lots of big events coming up so please see below for information regarding FAST, HS Curriculum Nights and the 5 Essentials and Snapshot surveys.
Please be sure to Save the Date for Thursday, February 16 from 6-8 pm for our Spring Showcase. Incoming 5th grade and current Panther families are invited to participate in fun, interactive games with all of our teachers as well as view performances from our Performing Arts students. Food trucks will be available for dinner. Parents will be able to talk with PTSA members and purchase Panther gear and other goodies from the school store.
Please note - Spring Break is March 13-17. Our front office will be closed during that time. March 20 is now a student attendance day and the start of the 4th quarter.
Dr. Melissa Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles MS
Students will take the 2nd FAST Progress Monitor the week of January 23-27. Please view the parent letter and bell schedule below. Please direct any questions to our Testing Coordinator, Mrs. Johanna Velazquez johanna_velazquez-rivera@scps.k12.fl.us
Beginning January 31 st , parents, students in grades 4-12 and school staff will have the opportunity to take part in the Snapshot Survey. The results of this survey will showcase what makes each of our school’s unique and will be used to develop a new more transparent school report card that will called the Snapshot Report. Your input and comments are important and will play a key role in spotlighting innovation and student achievements. In addition to the Snapshot Survey, students will once again have the opportunity to participate in the 5Essentials Survey. This opportunity will allow students in grades 4-12 to share their thoughts on the important elements of their school and classroom experiences.
The Snapshot and 5Essentials Surveys will be conducted January 31 st – March 1 st .
Participation in the surveys provides valuable information on our school and helps to guide school improvement. Your identity and survey responses are kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Snapshot and 5Essentials Surveys will be administered online. On January 31 st parents will receive the link to the Snapshot Survey. The survey link will also be available on the SCPS website. Please mark your calendars and plan to participate in this opportunity to provide your input.
Save the Date - January 26 is Curriculum Night for both Hagerty & Oviedo HS (see below). Please direct any questions to the appropriate high school.
As we begin this second semester, all 8th graders are expected to follow the direction of the letter below in order to participate in the 8th grade celebrations at the end of the school year. Hard copies will be distributed January 2 in all ELA classes.
