New concern:
As e-bikes have become increasingly popular, more students are using them to travel to and from school.
One of the main concerns is many students are not dismounting their e-bikes when using crosswalks. While it is not legally required, it is strongly recommended for safety reasons. Walking their bikes across the street ensures the safety of pedestrians, other students using scooters or skateboards, and helps our crossing guards as they assist students safely.
Unfortunately, we have also observed instances of students disregarding the crossing guards’ instructions and even riding through school parking lots, creating close-call situations with incoming and outgoing traffic. Given that e-bikes vary in speed and capability, it’s important for students to understand they can and should be walked across the crosswalks for everyone’s safety.
I kindly ask if you could emphasize the importance of following crossing guard instructions and encouraging students to dismount when crossing.
Previous message:
Recently, we have noticed more students crossing at the crosswalk near Spring Heather Place and Sanctuary rather than utilizing the designated school crossing guard in front of the school.
We understand traffic on Sanctuary can be quite heavy in the mornings and afternoons, and while the alternative crossing may seem more convenient to some, it poses a significant safety risk. A few years ago, we unfortunately had a student involved in an accident in that area, reinforcing the importance of using the designated crossing guard for safe passage.
Please direct your students to use the crossing guard for their safety. While some students may feel the alternate route is quicker, the reality is it puts them at greater risk due to the high traffic volume. The crossing guard is there specifically to ensure their safety while navigating the busy roadway.
Thank you.

Our 8th Grade Dance committee is working hard to make this year’s events memorable for the students! The PTSA wants to continue celebrating the students’ significant accomplishment of completing middle school, as we have done in years past. However, it takes a lot of people to make this happen, and they need more volunteers to help. Specifically, they are looking for people to join the decorations and fundraising committees. PTSA will also be looking for 6th and 7th grade parent volunteers to chaperone the dance, as 8th grade parents traditionally do not serve as chaperones on that special evening.
It's important to note that once these 8th grade parents step down, there will be no one left to take over the reins for future events. If you’re interested in getting involved—especially if you’ll have an 8th grader in the next few years and want to learn more about what to expect—please reach out to 8thgradelcms@gmail.com
8th Grade Spirit Week takes place in the days between the 8th grade dance and Gradventure, where both staff and students celebrate their successful years at LCMS by dressing up! The PTSA is asking for students' input on what they’d like their dress-up days to be. This week, your student had the opportunity to scan a QR code in their 4th period class to cast their vote.
If your student doesn’t have a cell phone, they can still vote by using this link with you:

Step 2 - Parents must click the link for the Permission Form and give permission for their student to attend. Take a note of the date and time. These forms will be added closer to the start of the school year.
Step 3 - Students then attend the club meetings and have fun! Any student who shows up for a meeting without the parent permission will not be allowed to stay.
