Dear LCMS Panther Families,
There are several important dates and other information that have been released for our 8th grade families. I have added a button at the top of this newsletter that goes to a page on our website that lists all important 8th grade information. Congratulations to the following students who were selected to be in the All State Band. Seminole County had the second largest group selected for the All State Band this year:

Congratulations also to our Jr. Thespians who competed in their District Festival last weekend. They scored 4 Superiors and 27 Excellents in performance and technical theater events.
Congratulations also go out to the following Chorus students who were selected to sing in the All County Honor Choir. Chorus 3 also performed at Great Day in the Country on Sunday.

Also this week, our JROTC participated in the Veteran's Day celebration at Partin Elementary.
Thank you also to those parents who participated in Teach In, sharing their careers and interests with our families.
Finally, congratulations to both Mrs. Ortiz-Tatarka and Mrs. Maiden who were both selected to receive a grant from the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools. Mrs. T's project is Lights Up, Voices On! Mrs. Maiden's project is HydroFusion: Merging Aquaculture and Agriculture. We can't wait to see the final projects!

For all 8th graders interested in science, medicine, or biotechnology
Please be aware that SCPS is using new software that detects inappropriate language on all SCPS-based platforms and SCPS forms of communication. This includes student email, eCampus, Google Workspace, One Drive, Microsoft Office, etc. Inappropriate language such as curse words, slurs, sexual content, violence, references to tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs and other types of inappropriate language will be flagged.
Remember, all SCPS web-based platforms are not your private property. Please be sure to use language that is professional, appropriate, and that represents you adequately. Parents, please discuss this with your students to avoid any disciplinary action.
