Dear LCMS Panther Families,
We are seeing a huge increase in parents bringing items to the front office to drop off to their student. As we have done for the past few years, and like the other middle and high schools - we do not allow dropoffs in the front office. If a student forgot their lunch, we will see that they eat. If they are not sure what is being served that day, please click the button above to the monthly menus for the Growl Grill. If they leave their homework, or a binder, or their PE Uniform, they will just have to go without for the day.
These protocols are in place for a couple of reasons:
For security reasons, we cannot have packages of any sort just dropped off in the office
We cannot interrupt instructional time for forgotten items
That said, please do not text your child to come to the office to pick something up and do not sign them out just to hand them something.
Thank you for helping us follow our security protocols.
Please be sure to view this week's broadcast of Paws52 - click the button above.
Have a great weekend!

Ms. Aimee Campbell was selected as our Golden Panther of the Month for her exhibition of All In and building and developing relationships with and between her students from the very first day.
We are fortunate to have her at Lawton Chiles!
Thank you to Cafe Panuzzo's for sponsoring our Golden Panther Program.
If your child has an Apple iPhone, please adjust their settings on AirDrop so that they cannot receive items that are sent throughout the school day and discuss that they should not accept AirDrops from people they do not know. Please also discuss the inappropriateness of sending memes and pictures randomly to any open AirDrops in the area as many of these memes and pictures are inappropriate.
Joint today!! Have your children, their grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends.... Support PTSA & keep Dr. Laudani in Cranberry!! Join Here: PTSA Online Store
Our LCMS Band is still looking for Corporate Sponsors. Visit the LCMS Band Website for more information.
If you are picking up your student in your car, please be sure to stay in the car line. Do not park in the lot and expect your child to walk through traffic to get to your car. This is a safety hazard.
Please join us for Open House September 22.
Several clubs will be starting soon. Keep checking back to the Clubs page on the website for more info: https://lcms.scps.k12.fl.us/students/clubs.stml
Parents, we have had to talk with several groups about appropriate behaviors on campus as we are seeing an increase in horseplay. Please remind your child that the only place they are to run on campus is in PE. They are not to run across the courtyard to get to lunch or their next class nor can they run in the Growl Grill. Additionally, please encourage them to keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times. What may start out as "just playing around" can go bad quickly. B Lunch especially has had to be reminded that they are to stay seated unless they are using the restroom or visiting the School Store.
For security reasons, we are not allowed to accept any items in the front office to be dropped off for students, including homework, lunches, backpacks, money, sports equipement, etc.
No student check-out after 3:30 pm (2:30 pm on Wednesday).
Thank you for your understanding and for planning ahead.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
On October 21, Seminole County Public School’s Health Services in collaboration with the Seminole County Health Department will be conducting state mandated health screenings for all sixth graders at Lawton Chiles Middle School Middle School. Students will be screened for scoliosis (curvature of the spine); growth and development including height, weight, BMI (body mass index); vision; and hearing. Screening schedule can be found on SCPS Website – Health Services page.
Please complete the health screening consent form located by clicking the link below NO LATER THAN October 7. As of 9/2 - only 200 families have responded.
2022-2023 Middle School Screening Consent Form
PLEASE NOTE:
-Those children who wear glasses or contact lenses must wear them for the vision screenings if they participate.
-Scoliosis screening is done in a private setting with at least 2 school board nurses present. The student is asked to stand straight while the nurse looks at the shoulders, hips, and back for any abnormalities or asymmetry. The student may be asked to lift the shirt to mid back level for view of hips if clothing is obstructing. The student will then be asked to bend forward and down about 90 degrees while hanging arms and head down. This allows the spine to elongate and the nurse to view the spine for straightness and the back for symmetry. Any abnormal findings will be sent in writing via mail to the parent/guardian.
If you choose to exempt your child from the screenings or do not complete the required consent form by the above deadline, your child will not participate in the schools scheduled health screenings. Please remember the importance of an annual wellness visit with your healthcare provider to review the child’s growth and development, nutrition, safety, and emotional as well as physical well-being.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Waller at megan_waller@scps.k12.fl.us or 407-871-7037.
Thank you,
Dr. Melissa Laudani

Your LCMS PTSA has started their “No Fuss Fundraiser”. They decided that instead of selling cookies, candles or other “stuff” through companies that keep a percentage of the money, they are simply asking for donations of which 100% will go to making improvements on campus, including additional security cameras and the window vinyls pictured below for the Growl Grill windows on the bus loop. Donate today following the directions provided on the flyer below.
