Go Panthers!
I understand that there has been some confusion regarding the first round of school pictures. We realize that only some of you received your student's pictures even though we distributed all of the ones we received. Leonard's is going to reprint all of the pictures that were purchased from the first picture day. We should receive them in time to get them to you before retakes on October 28. If your child missed the first picture day and you need to order pictures, please do so here: https://new.leonards.com/
Have a great weekend!
Dr. Melissa Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles MS
Crooms AOIT visited Friday and spoke to all 8th grade Science classes about the opportunities that exist at Crooms. Students who are interested in attending Crooms should consider attending the Crooms HS Field Trip on October 31. During the site visit, students will be divided into groups and will enjoy a tour of the facility, experience a technology lab classroom as well as meet with students, teachers, and technology team members who can answer any questions they may have.

Please be sure that your students who ride bicycles are putting their bikes inside the bike rack. Many are starting to just leave them out on the sidewalk.
Please take note of our No Drop Off policy. To increase security on our campus, the administration does not allow items to be dropped off for students in the front office. This includes, but is not limited to: lunches, projects, textbooks, homework, etc. Also, there is no student check out after 3:30pm (2:30 on Wednesdays).
While we do understand this may prove to be inconvenient to you and your student, please understand that the security and safety of all our students and staff is our Number One concern. Please review with your student what is needed each day for school in order to stop the need for dropping off materials. We appreciate your understanding and full cooperation.

Please read the information regarding our SCPS Safety Survey. The purpose of the safety survey is to provide your student with the opportunity to voice their concerns regarding the conditions that benefit student learning and campus safety. If you do not want your student to participate in the survey, please sign the letter and return it to the front office by October 28th, 2022.
The SCPS Safety survey will be administered online. To preview the questions that students will respond to click here.

Come run with us!!
The link is below, but you MUST sign up as part of the Lawton Chiles Middle School Team in order for us to get credit for our team. Here's information on why we want to have a team together. This money will go directly to the LCMS Sports Program.
SCHOOL GRANT FOR LARGEST TEAMS-
Every year, the race offers three $500 grants for the largest elementary, middle, and high-school teams. But there is ONE caveat: the minimum team size needed to be running is 25 people. They have had teams as large as 40 people before, so this is no big deal :) We're going for BIG here, so wrangle up a few more friends to come walk through history with you!!
Remember, students still in school pay "your age" as the registration fee through October 18! (If you are 5 years old, the registration is $5 through October 18th).
As you start cleaning out your closets to get ready for the holidays, please consider us for donations of white Christmas lights for our Spring Showcase. Donations can be dropped off in the Front Office to Dr. Taylor's attention.
The middle and high school magnet application period is now open. Apply today for the 2023-2024 school year! https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/district/departments/assignment-access/high-school-magnets.stml
