Dear LCMS Panther Families,
After receiving result from the safety survey students completed in November, we have noticed the following areas that we need your support in discussing with your students:
Hard Corners - Every room on campus has an identified hard corner. Each teacher has gone over the location of these with your students so that they know where this location is in each of their teachers' classrooms. Please ask your students if they are aware of these locations. Encourage them to ask their teachers if they do not.
Bathrooms - Students complain about other students banging on stall doors, peeking over and under doors and walls, and having other inappropriate behavior in the bathrooms. Please talk to your students about this. Ecourage appropriate behavior while they are in the bathroom. If they see or experience inappropriate behavior, encourage them to report it to their teacher right away. We do have cameras in the hallways and can see who was in the bathroom with them. We cannot stop it if they do not report it.
Safe person - Several students stated that they had a "Trusted Adult" on campus. Please ask your child who their "person" is. Every child should have someone they can go to.
Horseplay - Students complain about other students rough housing, hitting, kicking, "dead legging" and other behaviors. Please talk with your child about this. Students have been encouraged to keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times. Often times it starts out as "I was just joking" and it ends in something more serious. Again, please encourage your student to report any incidents immediately so that they can be investigated.
These items and more will be discussed in our PBIS assemblies that will be held on January 27.
Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about class selection for the 2023-2024 school year!
The week of January 23, both Hagerty and Oviedo registration information will be distributed to 8th graders. All registration will be online. I highly encourage all 8th grade students and their parents to attend the Curriculum Night for your future school (see flyers below).
Our current 6th graders will attend a presentation for their 7th grade class selection on 1/27. All registration is online.
Our current 7th graders will attend a presentation for their 8th grade class selection on 2/3. All registration is online.
Our counselors will talk with our incoming 6th graders at our feeder elementary schools starting on 1/30. All registration is online. All incoming 6th graders are encouraged to attend our Spring Showcase on 2/16 from 6-8 pm.
Have a great week!

Your student will be participating in the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for Mathematics or for Reading January 23-26 (see dates above). The FAST assessment is a progress monitoring tool administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year. Your student’s results from PM2 are for informational purposes only. Results will be available within 24-72 hours upon completion in the Florida Department of Education’s (FDOE) Family portal.
You can access the FDOE’s Family Portal via the secure Skyward Family Access.

Dear LCMS Parent or Guardian,
Beginning on January 31st , students in grades 6 through 8 will have the opportunity to participate in two important feedback surveys.
Students will participate in a short perception survey called the Snapshot Survey. The results of the Snapshot Survey will be collected and analyzed by a local data analytics firm and utilized to create a school report card, called the Snapshot Report, that will feature student perceptions as well as other school data points. Students will rate how likely they are to recommend their school to other students and describe in their own words what they like most about their school and what they would like to improve about their schools.
Students will participate in the 5Essentials Survey. This survey, developed by the University of Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Research, asks students about their experiences in school. Having direct information from students is critical for developing plans to improve schools.
Students’ identities on all surveys will be completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions. To review the survey questions, please go to https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/district/departments/assessment-accountability/5essentials/
If you DO NOT want your student to participate, fill out the information below and ask your student to return this sheet to his or her teacher.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Dr. Melissa Laudani, Principal

Beginning January 31 st , parents, students in grades 4-12 and school staff will have the opportunity to take part in the Snapshot Survey. The results of this survey will showcase what makes each of our school’s unique and will be used to develop a new more transparent school report card that will called the Snapshot Report. Your input and comments are important and will play a key role in spotlighting innovation and student achievements. In addition to the Snapshot Survey, students will once again have the opportunity to participate in the 5Essentials Survey. This opportunity will allow students in grades 4-12 to share their thoughts on the important elements of their school and classroom experiences.
The Snapshot and 5Essentials Surveys will be conducted January 31 st – March 1 st .
Participation in the surveys provides valuable information on our school and helps to guide school improvement. Your identity and survey responses are kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Snapshot and 5Essentials Surveys will be administered online. On January 31 st parents will receive the link to the Snapshot Survey. The survey link will also be available on the SCPS website. Please mark your calendars and plan to participate in this opportunity to provide your input.

Our PBIS slogan is PawsUp!
Please help us to remind our students to exhibit these behaviors campus-wide.
As you start cleaning out your closets to get ready for the holidays, please consider us for donations of white Christmas lights for our Spring Showcase. Donations can be dropped off in the Front Office to Dr. Taylor's attention.
