Lesson 17 - Verb Tense Consistency and Subtopic 6
Today, you will first review your paragraphs for your first through fifth subtopics by seeing if you have verb tense consistency. Than, you will make improvements to those paragraphs based on what you learned about verb tense. Finally, you will write a paragraph for your sixth subtopic, add a heading, add a picture, and caption.

2. Verb tense - clues to help us figure out when the action in a sentence is happening.
Imagine that you are very hungry. You had pizza for dinner yesterday (past), but pizza for lunch today sounds great (present). So, you and your friend decide that you will buy a pizza for lunch (future). Past, present, and future are the three main verb tenses in English. Tenses help us understand when the action is happening.
A verb is the action that is going on in a sentence:
I eat pizza. (I = subject, eat = verb, pizza = object) (present tense)
I ate pizza. (past tense)
I will eat pizza. (future tense)
past = the action has finished or just recently finished
present = the action is happening now or the action happens every day
future = the action has not happened yet or will be happening in the future
Verb tense consistency on the sentence level
Keep tenses consistent within sentences.

Generally, establish a primary tense and keep tenses consistent from sentence to sentence.

3. Follow this structure and any newly learned concepts from learning about verb tense to write your sixth paragraph.

Make sure not to just list your facts. It should flow.
4. Add a heading (title) to your paragraph.
Be creative.
Do NOT just call it the name of your topic.
5. On the next page add a picture and caption.
Use a picture that relates to the subtopic.
Add a caption that describes what the picture is about.
You will have 2 days to revise your first through fifth subtopics and complete your subtopic 6 paragraph, heading, picture, and caption.
