Lesson 3 - Publishing
Today, you will type your composition, turn it in for a grade, and make it ready to share. This will be a TWO day lesson. You will not finish it all today. Continue working on and finishing it the next day.
HERE IS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO TODAY:
1. Look at the rubric to see how you will be graded.
2. Use the Google Docs (Guess My Costume) in your Google Writing Classroom to start typing your project.
3. Set up the title and your name like the sample.
4. Type the same first two sentences that are in the sample to start your project.
5. Start typing the rest of your composition using your planner, rubric, and the requirements below.
a) Remember it should describe a Halloween costume and require readers to infer what your costume is.
b) There will be four paragraphs.
c) The first paragraph is an introduction that includes general clues about your costume.
d) The second paragraph will include more specific clues about your costume.
e) The third paragraph paragraph will include very specific clues about your costume.
f) The last paragraph will include the giveaway clues and a creative ending.
g) Make sure to include some good author's craft.
h) Edit and revise your composition. Use your rubric - did you do everything?
i) You can adjust the font, color, size, etc, but it must fit on one page.
j) On the next page add a picture of your costume (use Google to search).
k) Print both pages NOT back to back.
l) Select a piece of construction paper and glue the composition on one side.
m) Glue the picture to the other side.
n) Keep it. Also, keep your costume a secret. We will share them in class.
o) Submit it for a grade.
NOTE: If you are 100% virtual student, I can print it for you after you submit it to me. You do not need to print it from home. I will invite you to a Google Meet where you can read yours to the class.
When you are finished with the assignment, here is what you can do:
Just keep writing.
Keep adding seeds.
Add to a already started seed.
Decide to take a seed through the writer’s process.
Reread your writing.
Edit your writing.
Work with a writing partner (with permission).
NEVER say "I am finished"
You need to be writing for a minimum of 30 minutes.
