Concrete Poem
Lesson 8
Lesson 8
Today, we will be reading, studying , analyzing, and writing about concrete poems.
is an unrhymed or rhyming poem that takes on the shape of its subject. Therefore, if the subject of the poem were of a flower, then the poem would be shaped like a flower. Concrete poems break almost every traditional poetic form. There is usually no rhyme, no punctuation, and no rhythm. The form and meaning of the concrete poem is closely interwoven to create visual art.
Use the Google Doc to analysis a concrete poem. Remember to make a copy and save it in your writing folder.
Use your Google Doc to write a concrete poem. Write it in the box provided. You may use color and add a picture. You MUST include imagery and white space in your poem. You will keep one poem per page, so your concrete poem will start on page 4, and all your poems will be written on the same Google Doc that you already saved in your drive. I Recommend you first write your poem on paper and work on it. When you are happy with it, you can add it to the Doc.
When you are finished with the assignment, here is what you can do:
Just keep writing.
Keep adding seeds.
Add to a already started seed.
Decide to take a seed through the writer’s process.
Reread your writing.
Edit your writing.
Work with a writing partner (with permission).
NEVER say "I am finished"
You need to be writing for a minimum of 30 minutes.
