Lesson 13 - Sample Paragraph and Subtopic 2
Today, you will first review your paragraph for your first subtopic by comparing it to a sample. Than, you will make improvements to the paragraph based on what you learned from the sample. Finally, you will write a paragraph for your second subtopic, add a heading, add a picture, and caption.
1. Use this sample to improve your paragraph for subtopic 1. It was written by a 5th grader in a previous year, so it is not perfect, but it is a GREAT example.
Did you include all the parts?
Do your supporting details flow?
Are your details in order?
Will someone reading it learn and understand about the topic?
Make any improvements you feel you need to make so that your paragraph resembles the example.
2. Follow this structure and any newly learned concepts from studying the example to write your second paragraph.
Hook (should already be done)
Topic Sentence (should already be done)
Supporting Details
Conclusion
Linking Sentence to Next Topic
Make sure not to just list your facts. It should flow.
3. Add a heading (title) to your paragraph.
Be creative.
Do NOT just call it the name of your topic.
4. On the next page add a picture and caption.
Use a picture that relates to the subtopic.
Add a caption that describes what the picture is about.
You will have 2 days to revise your first subtopic and complete your subtopic 2 paragraph, heading, picture, and caption.
