Remember, the stories we write will be based on the story we read. We are not making up a story using our imagination. I want to teach you more about what I said would be our focus. We have to think about what the story would be like If It was told by a different character. There is a term for this kind of thinking- point of view.
Let's look at an example of the same story told from two different points of view to illustrate this concept..
How were the stories the same? How were the stories different?
The point of view changes.
The overall setting Is the same as the original story.
The main characters are the same.
The overall plot stays the same.
However, the thoughts, actions, feelings, dialogue will be those of the secondary character, so they change.
Let's look at this poster to reinforce this concept.
What would There's Plenty of Fish in the Trees be like if it was told by the wife's point of view?
Remember how we filled out the organizer for the original story. Now, fill it out from the wife's point of view.
