SCHOOL GUIDELINES FOR MANAGING STUDENTS WITH FOOD ALLERGIES 


The School Committee recognizes that food allergies can pose a significant threat to the health of students. It is the policy of Lewiston Public Schools to work with students, staff, parents, and physicians to minimize risks and provide a safe educational environment for food-allergic students. 

Family's Responsibility 

Parents of students with food allergies are responsible to: 

strategies for avoiding exposure to unsafe foods 

o   symptoms of allergic reactions 

o   how and when to tell an adult they may be having an allergy-related problem 

how to read food labels (age appropriate) 

School's Responsibility 

Student's Responsibility 

Students with food allergies, as appropriate based on age, are responsible to:
