Parts of a Book

Not strictly part of a book ...

John Curtis: PS

This is a simple lesson to help students understand call stickers. I had students create a title for their own book and then add themselves as the author. We then * created call stickers for our 'books' * swapped our books with other classmates * Found the right places for our books to go The post-it notes wouldn't stick to my whiteboard so I used a table! They were really engaged and it worked for year 1 all the way to year 6.

This article is about the ISBN and could make an interesting lesson. If you write one, share it here!!

Parts of a Book (see right) provides quick examples that could be useful when covering this for S3 and above. It provides more detail than the basics, ie. cover, blurb, spine.
