I am a fifth grade teacher in Parma, Michigan.  Helping kids find the books that help them fall in love with reading brings me tremendous joy. In 2011, I started the Nerdy Book Club blog with my friend Donalyn Miller. I co-host The Yarn podcast with Teacher Librarian Travis Jonker.                                                                                [US site]

A book review blog dedicated to the books we enjoy ourselves and the books we love to share with our children.    [UK site]

This site has been created to celebrate and showcase the work of school librarians in the UK.

I get my book recommendations from many different sources - Toppsta reviewers, friends of my children, parents, teachers (particularly on Twitter), librarians and more but I'm always intrigued to see which children's books win awards (and who judges them too). All too easy we default to the known authors like David Walliams or Julia Donaldson but there are thousands of award-winning books to try. Here's a list of the key children's book awards in the UK with links to shortlists and winners.
