Students will learn about the Dewey Decimal system and how it organizes the library's non-fiction section. They will then work with a partner to create Pow Toon animated video to describe their assigned section.

Personally, Dewey

Make the connection between shelving according to author's surname in both fiction and nonfiction sections by having students search for books using the first three letters of their own surnames. For younger students, just use the first letter.

Make it a team/table competition and assign points for first, second, third letters (bonus points for three letters, of course!).
