A very simple activity that I have done with the ELC students - making reindeer food which consisted of oats and sprinkles. We did a guided drawing for the reindeer. They were so excited.
Annual Reports
Annual Reports are not mandated reporting but there is a load of benefits to the TL, the library and hence the school if we can take the time (!!) to create a template for annual school library reporting. The ideas below have come from the SWSSLN meeting on 18.11.2020 - all credit to the TL collaboration evident at this event.
Plan, Celebrate and Reflect
- Start by compiling a list of things that have taken place in your library throughout the year (aim for 10!)
borrowing stats
strategies employed to increase borrowing
purchase of new resources
collaboration with staff for literacy and other curriculum areas
events - Book Week, PRC, Naidoc Week, Book Fairs. etc
surveys of staff and students
- Provide detail for the top three to five points from your list
- Define what you have learned from these experiences, eg. your colleagues don't really know how and what you can contribute to their teaching
- Reflect on what you have learned professionally from these experiences or events
- If you could re-visit what you have done this year, what would you do differently?
- List three things that you could do less
- Now list three things you could do without altogether
For your keen readers, regular Book Clubbers and those you know would appreciate it, why not provide parents/carers with a small list of books recommended specifically for their child, as suggestions for Christmas or end of year celebratory gifts. Send it home in a Thank You for Being an Awesome Reader card. This is not meant for every child, it is something your readers should aspire to receiving.
