Tactile texture can make an artwork more interesting or surprising. Look at Object by Meret Oppenheim. What do you see? The artist covered smooth objects with a surprising texture. What do you think the artwork feels like?
Untitled by Hailey is a weaving made of yarn. Rugs and blankets are also kinds of weavings. What do you think Untitled feels like?

- Create your weaving using a loom.
- Use different materials to create different textures.
Use a loom (*and skip to step 3) or Use 10" x 10" cardboard square to create you own loom and proceed to step 2.
Cut fifteen 1/2" slits along the top and bottom of the cardboard square. Try to put equal space between each slit.
3. Wrap string through each slit around the loom. Tape the ends of the string to the back of the loom.
4. Weave the yarn and the ribbon over and under the string to create your weaving. Tie the ends in a knot on the back of the cardboard.
