balance - The way parts of an artwork work together so that the parts seem equal.
monochromatic - A color scheme that includes only different values group of one color.
monoprint - A form of printmaking where the image can only be made once.
print - An artwork made by pressing an object covered with wet color against a flat surface.
symmetry or linear symmetry - The kind of balance created when both sides of something are similar or the same.
Look at Heartland by Miriam Schapiro. The artist made the two sides of the artwork the same shape. What effect does this have? What parts of the artwork have balance? What parts do not have balance?

Glue, Found-Objects (wood scraps, clean empty food and drink containers, small boxes, natural objects, nuts and bolts, foil, fabric scraps, paper tubes, etc...), Crayons or Markers
Think about objects that are balanced or symmetrical.
Check list:
- Pick one color to combine with black and white.
- Pour paint on one side of folded paper.
- Close unpainted side down on to the paint, press, open, let dry.
Fold the paper in half and open it. Pour one color along with black and white paint on one side of folded paper.
Refold the paper along the fold line and press.
Open the paper and let dry.
Create a balanced design by folding paper and using scissors.
