How I do it
I break the topic down into small objectives. (Shorter is better)
I make general explanatory videos (like why the formula is the way it is)
I make a bunch of examples
I code the topics, so I can find them on my YouTube Channel (I have lots)
Technology
I use iShowU HD (around $30) - It's fast and not fancy. I don't tend to edit and add fancy stuff.

I also have Camtasia Studio and the regrettably named Snagit for the PC - it is expensive and complicated, but it makes great videos
I have two Bamboo drawing pads:
CTL-470 - uses a cable
CTH-470 - wireless - I use it to write on the screen during class
Both of these have been replaced with the CTL490DW that is $79.95 on Amazon, and to which you can add a wireless link for $37.59
