DL-Linear Kinematics

Demo - Float in a Jar - The direction of acceleration.  Demonstrating positive and negative acceleration and positive and negative velocity

Demo - Free Fall tube.  This is a feather in a vacuum demo.  I have a steel marble (that I don't put in the tube) and a ping pong ball and a feather.

Lab - Graphs of motion "Labs" on Canvas.  These are pretty cool, they watch a video of motion on YouTube with tracking and then they choose the graph of motion that matches the video.  I have one for displacement, velocity, and acceleration.

They are in my Canvas Courses, also the regular Canvas Quizzes version is on the commons

Lab - Graphs of Motion ILD.  Students use the ILD process to analyze various known motion.  I use a motion encoder track because it gives better data than a rangefinder.  You can have the students do the predictions on a google sheet.

Lab - Moving Plots for IB Physics.  We drop a 0.50 kg mass towing a 1.30 m piece of spark timer tape through a 60Hz spark timer, and derive through various means the acceleration of gravity.

Lab - Moving Plots for General Physics.  A dynamics cart rolls down an incline, then rolls to rest across a table towing a 2.00 m piece of spark timer tape through a 10Hz spark timer.  They make beautiful graphs of the cart speeding up then slowing down.

Lab - Air Rocket.  Students determine the launch velocity of Low, Medium, High, and Super thrust washers.  Students launch the rocket straight up and time from launch until it hits the ground.  I talk about random error  (i.e. the 5 trials are intrinsically different).

Arbor just released these new systems - You can control when you launch them, as well as at what pressure.  Super cool.  I ordered 6 of them, and hope to have them all set up for you!!  (My gift to you)
