Price Agreements

There are two types of Price Agreements, those issued through the Governor's Office of Information Technology (for IT Purchases) and those through the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration (for non-IT Purchases).

  • No competition required up to the dollar amount of the price agreement

  • Must use OIT Price Agreements and DPA Price Agreements must be used if price agreement is mandatory

  • Purchases made outside of a mandatory price agreement must first receive a waiver from the DNR Purchasing Director and OIT (if applicable).

State Price Agreements are negotiated by the State Division of Purchasing. They identify vendors and the designated commodities that are available for purchase within the state system or with state funds. Although there may be cases where a local vendor offers a lower price, the state price agreements ensure that, based on projected quantities purchased throughout the State over a certain period of time, the best overall economy will be achieved. Using a Price Agreement eliminates the need to solicit competition and can expedite your purchase, since the State has negotiated with vendors that are on price agreements and there is no need to negotiate contract or purchase order terms and conditions.

Some of the State Price Agreements are mandatory and must be used when purchasing that particular item; others are permissive and allow purchase of the item from another vendor. Price agreements can be found on the Department of Personnel and Administration website at Colorado BIDS and are listed alphabetically by commodity with the name of the vendor(s). Any purchase made outside of a mandatory price agreement can be made after requesting a waiver, which must be coordinated through the DNR Purchasing Director.
