Bi-Weekly Pay and Timesheet approval

Post date: Mar 27, 2018 9:24:20 PM

Good Afternoon,

As indicated in DPA's recent communications, HRIS and bi-weekly pay will have a major impact on the timesheet process. Given past practice at DNR, this shift will be a significant change for some of our employees.

Currently, the monthly timesheet completion and approval is done after employees are paid. Kronos timesheet completion and approval has always been required but not always enforced. Indeed, every month over a hundred DNR employees and managers (or other approvers) have not approved timesheets in Kronos and yet this has had limited consequence on employee pay.

The change to lag payroll as part of the statewide switch to bi-weekly pay elevates the importance of timesheets. Bi-weekly timesheet entry and approval occurs before the employee is paid. If the employee and manager (or other approver) have not filled out and approved the timesheet, the employee may not be paid in a timely fashion.

Over the coming months, you will see numerous emails from DPA and DNR on timesheets and we will do everything we can to minimize the impact this change has on the timeliness of employee pay but completing and approving timesheets must be a priority!

Given this pending change, I would suggest that divisions review their timesheet process to ensure employee timesheets are entered in and approved in a timely fashion. DNR payroll and I are willing to work with divisions or programs or really any DNR employee on their timesheet process.

New Hires

In preparation for the statewide bi-weekly change, all new DNR employees hired after March 31st will be placed on a bi-weekly pay schedule. All existing monthly paid employees will continue to be paid at the end of each month until July 2018.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
