Vaccination and Testing Requirements Make the Workplace Safer for You, Co-Workers, and Citizens

Gov. Polis announced that, starting Sept. 20, 2021, all State employees within the Governor’s purview will be required to attest to COVID vaccination status, and provide a copy of their vaccine record or card, or submit to twice-weekly serial testing.

All State employees in the executive branch under the Governor’s purview are covered under this policy. This includes classified and non-classified, permanent and State temporary employees, contractors, vendors, and volunteers at State locations.

Certain departments have unique criteria regarding vaccination and testing. Employees should follow the direction of their department leadership. A convenient and detailed FAQ page can answer most questions you may have about the policy.

To learn more about why vaccination is a good idea, listen to what these State employees have to say.

Wildfire Safety Guidance & Resources

DNR has many employees who work around wildfires in the State. The State Office of Risk Management (SORM) in collaboration with the Wildfire Safety Taskforce has developed new guidance for non-emergency employees working in proximity to wildfires and dealing with poor air quality. Please CLICK HERE to view the State’s guidelines.

The State is offering a BASIC WILDFIRE SAFETY training on June 15, at 10 AM. If you are interested please CLICK HERE to register for the session.

Ergonomics Resources

Ergonomics is the study of the relationship between the worker and the work environment. Ergonomic evaluations may help reduce the probability of developing work-related musculoskeletal disorders, which can affect the body’s muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves, generally in the back, neck, shoulders and upper limbs.

For several years, the State Office of Risk Management (SORM) has provided an online ergonomic assessment tool that has been a valuable resource for state employees to easily and quickly resolve minor ergonomic issues in their workplace.

It is now much easier to create an account, complete ergonomic training, and perform an ergonomic self-assessment by utilizing the Humantech ergonomic assessment and training software. Click HERE to access the site and create an account. You may also access the assessment tool through SORM’s dedicated Ergonomics webpage by clicking HERE.
