Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.

The biggest news this week is that CLC has launched a constitutional challenge against the Parliamentary Protective Service for prohibiting us from showing abortion victim images on Parliament Hill during our press conference leading up to the National March for Life in May. It’s time to push back against the censorship of pro-life speech that has been happening on Parliament Hill. We’re being represented by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms.

And, here’s some good news. A Christian pastor has launched an alternative to drag queen story hours, an initiative that is beginning to spread across the country. Instead of having drag queens in libraries reading perverted and corrosive stories to children, this initiative has Christian leaders reading stories to children in libraries that affirm biological sex and celebrate true masculinity and femininity. Bravo!

The July edition of CLC National News, our monthly newsletter, is now available online. Reading this is a great way to catch up on what CLC has been up to.

Finally, the must-see video of the week is a heartwarming account of a fireman and his wife who adopted the first baby to be dropped off in the fire station’s newly installed “baby box.”

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms: Campaign Life Coalition legally challenges Parliamentary police for prohibiting abortion victim images on Hill

ARPA: How we intervened in Bill Whatcott’s criminal ‘hate speech’ case

Must-see video of the week

A Florida Firefighter named Vincent and his wife had been trying to have a child for 10yrs. Their prayers were finally answered after Vincent rescued a baby girl from his fire station’s Baby Box. “I picked her up and held her. We locked eyes, and that was it. I’ve loved her ever since that moment.”

Maureen, it’s much easier to complain about how bad the world is today than to do something to make it better. But, as people of faith and as people of hope, we are called not to complain, but to make things better.

Yes, the darkness encroaches all around us, but we are called not to complain about the darkness, but to light a candle.

That’s what I loved about the story of the Christian pastor in Alberta who decided that complaining about the corruption of children in our libraries wasn’t enough. He decided to light a candle by hosting reading hours where children would hear inspiring stories that included basic truths such as God creating humans as male and female and that marriage is between a man and a woman.

I think this is more of the kind of response that Christians need to make in these dark times if we’re really going to answer Christ’s call to be “light” in the world.

CLC President Jeff Gunnarson often reminds our staff that we must insert Christ back into society to change the culture.

Is God asking you to light a candle somewhere to help dispel the darkness? The more of us who answer this call, the more the light will spread, until there is no more darkness in our world.

“Let your light shine before others!” - Matt. 5:16.

Be bold and daring for life!
