LUMINOUS MYSTERIES

Thursday

Make the Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Say the Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Say the Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Say three Hail Marys

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us of our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy.

First Luminous Mystery: CHRIST IS BAPTIZED IN THE JORDAN

When Jesus is baptized, the Father’s voice is heard: “This is my beloved Son”. All are called to become adopted sons and daughters of God through Baptism. We pray that children in the womb may be protected, so that they may be born and welcomed into the Christian community by Baptism.

Say the Our Father

Say ten Hail Marys

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Second Luminous Mystery: CHRIST IS MADE KNOWN AT THE WEDDING OF CANA

Jesus revealed His glory by the miracle at Cana. He shows his power over nature, consecrates marriage as a sacrament, and bestows His blessings on the celebration of life. Let us pray for strong marriages, rooted in the Lord, and open to the gift of new life.

Say the Our Father

Say ten Hail Marys

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Third Luminous Mystery: CHRIST PROCLAIMS THE KINGDOM AND CALLS ALL TO CONVERSION

“Repent and believe the Good News”. Let us pray that these first words of Jesus’ public ministry may be heard by all who have accepted contraception. May they know that the Lord calls them to conversion, and may they experience life-giving repentance.

Say the Our Father

Say ten Hail Marys

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Fourth Luminous Mystery: THE TRANSFIGURATION

Christ is transfigured on the mountain, and the disciples see His glory. May the eyes of all people be opened, that they may see each and every human life as a reflection of the glory of God Himself.

Say the Our Father

Say ten Hail Marys

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Fifth Luminous Mystery: JESUS GIVES US THE EUCHARIST

“This is My Body, given up for you”. The Eucharist teaches us how to live and how to love. Let us pray that parents who sacrifice babies for their own convenience, may learn instead to put themselves aside for the sake of their babies.

Say the Our Father

Say ten Hail Marys

Say the Glory Be to the Father

Say the Hail Holy Queen

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our Life, our Sweetness, and our hope. To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

P. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Say the Prayer after the Rosary

O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that, meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

P. May the divine assistance remain always with us.

R. Amen.

P. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

R. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle.

Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -

by the Divine Power of God -

cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,

who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
