Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I want to take this moment to thank all who prayed for an end to abortion during this campaign and to offer a special thank you to everyone who stepped-up to the plate to proclaim the word of God. Once again you have braved the cold, the rain, the noise and many other distractions to make this possible, and once again our campaign was peaceful, and for the most part, uneventful. Thank you for your bravery and your determination.

The greatest event, of course was the announcement that a baby was saved by our witness. That is the only one we know of. We will never really know how many others hearts the Lord has touched or how many babies were actually saved during this campaign. We need to continue soldiering-on and doing as the Lord has taught us; that is to, pray, pray, pray. With God all things are possible. He is answering our prayers as He promised. We can have faith in that. And we still have the momentum created by motion 312, so this is no time to relax our efforts.

In our Gospel today we hear Jesus telling us that the most important commandment is to Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all or your strength. And the second is like this; you shall love your neighbour as yourself.

At times we can become discouraged with our neighbour and even sometimes angry when it comes to the issue of abortion. The reason so many disagree with the pro-life position is they don’t know God or Love God. So many others have turned away from God and rely on the world alone for all their answers.

Our hearts can be like a floppy disc, that until it is formatted, it cannot receive information. When it comes to our hearts, they are formatted by the Holy Spirit when we turn to God in humility seeking His love and friendship. When you turn to God seeking the truth, he will reveal it to you. You will know things and have an understanding you never dreamt possible. So until a person has made that personal surrender to God, true understanding may never come about. Therefore it is our duty, the duty of our Baptism, to encourage our neighbour, especially those who are so opposed to pro-life, to seek a personal relationship with the Lord. Only then will the tide be changed. We can argue our position until we are blue in the face, but until the Lord reveals the truth to their hearts; we are fighting a desperate battle. We can show no greater love to our neighbour than to lead them to a conversion in the Lord and in so doing gain another pro-life advocate. So wherever we see opposition, do not think you can deal with it alone. Invoke the help of our Lord, who alone can defeat this evil and bring about a person’s conversion.

Just as last year, I would encourage you to email me with any thoughts on how we can improve the campaign for next year. Let me know also of any experiences you had that you would like to share.

Blessings to all.

Deacon Chuck

Proclamation of the Word

The proclamation of the Word will take place during the hours of 11:00AM until 1:00PM each day during the Campaign across the street from, and just a little to the north of, the abortuary. We will have a podium, microphone and speaker set-up. You will need your own bible, an umbrella in case it rains and perhaps and bottle of water. Proclamation of the Word is in support of the prayer warriors and street counsellors, therefore, it will not be so loud as to disrupt their work.

If you want to participate in this unique and powerful initiative, click here to get more details (permanent link, Proclamation!, under Vigil Registration on the top menu).

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
