Proverbs 3:3-8
Lean on God's Understanding In Times of Trouble
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
Let us trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight...Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil...This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones...Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine...My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those He LOVES as a father delights in his son..
So although we lack the wisdom of God, we can still Trust in Him, and believe that He has Complete Understanding...For Complete Understanding is LOVE, and God is LOVE...God knows all His children and knows all about them, their problems, their issues, their means and ways, and every hair on their head...So it is good to trust in Infinite Understanding...He knows when they are in sad and in despair...He knows when they are troubled...And when we are troubled with life and its issues that bring us down we need to lean on His understanding, even though we may be trying to figure how we can help the problem we are troubled in...Prayer and meditation can be powerful tools for connecting with Someone Larger than ourselves and finding peace in the midst of our difficulty...Simply talking to God, expressing our pain and confusion, and asking for strength can be a source of comfort...
C.S. Lewis wrote: "If you do what He [i.e., God] tells you, without knowing the reason, you will eventually come to understand it...If you read Him the right way – that is, with His eyes – you will know what He means." This means that we must trust God even when we don't understand what He is doing...The Cross is the ultimate example of God's LOVE for us, even when we don't deserve it...It is through the Cross that we can learn to trust and obey God, even when it is difficult...
