Jesus Says that He is Truth
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Where does belief or to believe in Someone or Something come from?...Is reason, a reason to believe?...Where does belief and reason come from?...
Jesus says believe in God, but also to believe in Him...Why do we believe in Him?...We know that believing in God and Jesus may be hard for some people...But our beliefs come from our personal thoughts...And for some reason, when we have thoughts -they are easy to believe in...This is because we all have thoughts, yet we cannot see our thoughts...Each of us has many thoughts throughout our days, weeks, months, and years...So we can believe in our thoughts and believe in the thought process...But we cannot explain this thought process...We cannot even explain why each and every thought comes to our minds or when a certain thought might come to mind...But thoughts, I think, are a reason to believe in God...Especially, if one believes that God made us in His Image...As our Creator, He has given us a most unique thought process, that somehow even though thoughts at time seem to come to us randomly, we know there is reason, and logic, and Truths in this world...We know that there are Universal Truths in the world, such as math...We know that one plus one will always equal two, no matter where we are in this universe or world...And God has also given us a Holy Spirit...And that Holy Spirit in each of us will guide us to Him and to the Truths of this world and of this universe...Somehow our thoughts are able to guide us to reason and logic and the Universal Truths of this world...And somehow after we think about it, we can trust our own thinking to be true...The Holy Spirit is there somehow guiding us...
The thought process is a very difficult thing to explain...Thoughts are mental events, yet these mental events of the thought process in the end wind up making sense of this world...Our brains were designed by God for thinking...But why does our often chaotic thoughts make sense?...And how and why do our thoughts guide us to reason and logic and to the Truth?...C. S. Lewis had an interesting take on the meaning of our lives without God, and on thinking and about our thought process...Lewis, once an atheist, believed God created us and He is the One who gives meaning to the thoughts we have...C. S. Lewis said this about the thought process..."Supposing there was no intelligence behind the universe, no creative mind...In that case, nobody designed my brain for the purpose of thinking...It is merely that when the atoms inside my skull happen, for physical or chemical reasons, to arrange themselves in a certain way, this gives me, as a by-product, the sensation I call thought...But, if so, how can I trust my own thinking to be true?...It’s like upsetting a milk jug and hoping that the way it splashes itself will give you a map of London...But if I can’t trust my own thinking, of course I can’t trust the arguments leading to atheism, and therefore have no reason to be an atheist, or anything else...Unless I believe in God, I cannot believe in thought: so I can never use thought to disbelieve in God."...
We trust our own thinking...Lewis explains that we cannot use thoughts and the thought process not to believe in God...How can a random mental event type thought and a random thought process argue find Truth or find God?...How can a random thought process believe in logic?...How can a random thought process believe in the ability to reason?...How did the thought process evolve through the Darwinian Theory to make our thought process rational and logical?...Why don't we have random, chaotic thoughts instead of logic and rational thoughts?...Why do we even think at all?...Would not evolution give us only an instinct, if even that?...Why all the thoughts?...Would we not only be instinctively looking and thinking only of threats -if we had no thoughts?...Why do we even have thoughts, especially reasonable thoughts, if we are here purely through random evolution and natural selection?...How can the non-believer, believe any of his or her thoughts, if they are are just these random events produced from evolution of millions of years of time?...
Think about this, what if we had no thoughts, at all?...It would seem as Lewis infers, our own personal thoughts are a reason to believe in God...If thoughts are only chemical reactions and atoms inside our skulls just going off in no certain way or reason and only chaotic and completely random, there would be no creativity in us, nothing would be built, and nothing would be made...Nothing would be believed in, if all thoughts were only chaotic...And there would be little thinking...There would be no God, because we could not think of Him at all...Because we could not think, we would have no thoughts and there would not be anything...Without this ability to reason, I have no arguments for God, or for you to believe in Him...
Jesus says that we are guided in our thoughts and ways to Him, and to the Truth through the Holy Spirit...By believing in Him, it gives us a genuine basis for believing that our thoughts are not just random mental events, but something much more...We can believe that the thought process is a deliberate and powerful part of the Image of God...So, we can believe our thoughts are guided by LOVE, because God is LOVE...
