Matthew 7:24-29
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust in the LORD
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

Trust in the LORD
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
Jesus teaches us that whoever who hears His Word and does not use them is a foolish man...Believing in Him is trusting Him...But those who read His Word and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock...When building a home on stone, and of brick, on a rock makes for a solid foundation...There will be storms in our lives and the rains will come, the winds will blow, and the water will rise -but the strong home with its rock solid foundation will stand...
It is wise that we build not only our homes on solid foundations, but also our lives...It is wise to do this...We can be confident in life, even when we beset with troubles...Jesus tells us this...Jesus teachings and us following them are rock solid for and in our lives...He makes the point that wise men use His teachings...Jesus is the foundation to our lives and the foundation to this world...
God assures us that if we follow Him and do His will, He will be with us...Like a ship on the ocean, the ship may see and pass through many storms...After years and years of storms, the ship has been tested and is seaworthy...This is much like our faith...There will be trials and tribulations throughout our lives...Our faith can get stronger with each passing storm, if we trust in the LORD...As the ship gets anchored in its last and final setting, we get anchored by hope and learn from these trials...Jesus is the anchor to our soul...When our lives are anchored to Jesus, the foundation is an eternal rock...For out LORD is the Rock Eternal...Trust in the LORD forever with all your heart, He will make your life's paths straight...
