Proverbs 19:21-23
God Gives Us Unfailing LOVE
21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
22 What a person desires is unfailing love;
better to be poor than a liar.
23 The fear of the Lord leads to life;
then one rests content, untouched by trouble.
Hebrews 5:7-9
Our True Path to God
7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
The Proverbs tell us many useful life truths and truthful ideas...The author of Hebrews speaks of Jesus' prayer life on earth...We as youths start out with many plans, dreams, and ideas, but throughout our lives the LORD's purpose will prevail, and God's Will get done on earth as it does in Heaven...What a person desires most is unfailing LOVE...And fear of the LORD leads to life, then one can rest and be untouched by the world's troubles...God is in control and God prevails...During Jesus' life He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission...Although He was a Son, the Son of God, He learned obedience from what He suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him...And these proverbial words and words from the prayerful words of Hebrews they remind me of some of the things Professor Peter Kreeft has said...
Professor and author Peter Kreeft tells us about life and God...Here are some of his quotes...“Only God may be adored, because only God is unlimited goodness, truth, and beauty, and thus only God deserves unlimited love.”...“The single most important piece of advice about prayer is one word: Begin!”...“If we rely on anything else besides faith to maintain the practice of the presence of God, we will certainly fail, whether this is our feelings, or experiences, or sincerity, or good intentions, or reasonings, or plans...The reason these things will fail while faith will not fail is that all these things depend on us, while faith depends on God...It is a gift of God.”...“Prayer is not only conversation, it is transformation. It is not only light, it is fire...And the closer you get to Him, the hotter the fire gets...Words begin to melt...The first word that melts in His presence is the word 'I....' That is His unique name...The closer you get to Him, the harder it is to begin a sentence with 'I.' It melts in the fire of 'thou.”...“Nothing but prayer can make saints because nothing but God can make saints, and we meet God in prayer...Prayer is the hospital for souls where we meet Doctor God.”...“One moment of prayer, of weak worship, confused contrition, tepid thanksgiving, or pitiful petition will bring us closer to God than all the books of theology in the world.”...“In an age of hope men looked up at the night sky and saw “the heavens..."In an age of hopelessness they call it simply “space.”...“The heart is like a woman, and the head is like a man, and although man is the head of woman, woman is the heart of man, and she turns man's head because she turns his heart.”...“Our culture has filled our heads but emptied our hearts, stuffed our wallets but starved our wonder...It has fed our thirst for facts but not for meaning or mystery...It produces "nice" people, not heroes.”...“We sinned for no reason but an incomprehensible lack of love, and He saved us for no reason but an incomprehensible excess of LOVE.”...“Marriage is earth’s closest image for Heaven because it is all or nothing, forever - a leap of faith.”...“By the way, if you get mad at your Mac laptop and wonder who designed this demonic device, notice the manufacturer's icon on top: an apple with a bite out of it.”...“America does not know the difference between money and sex...It treats sex like money because it treats sex as a medium of exchange, and it treats money like sex because it expects its money to get pregnant and reproduce.”...“This is the secret of life: the self lives only by dying, finds its identity (and its happiness) only by self-forgetfulness, self-giving, self-sacrifice, and Agape LOVE.”...“The national anthem of Hell is 'I did it my way.”...“If you place [your bet] with God, you lose nothing, even if it turns out that God does not exist...But if you place it against God, and you are wrong and God does exist, you lose everything.”...“We can't avoid reasoning; we can only avoid doing it well.”...“Don't be more serious than God...God invented dog farts...God designed your body's plumbing system...God designed an ostrich...If He didn't do it, He permitted a drunken angel to do it...Empirical facts can add significantly to the meaning of "being godlike".”...“I guarantee you that after you die you will not say 'I spent too much time praying; I wish I had watched more TV instead.”...“One of the few things in life that cannot possibly do harm in the end is the honest pursuit of the truth.”...“The most total opposite of pleasure is not pain but boredom, for we are willing to risk pain to make a boring life interesting.”...“The very first step is to try to forget about the self altogether...He [C.S. Lewis] says elsewhere that that's the very definition of humility...Humility does not mean to have a low view of yourself...It means to have no view of yourself...Having a low view of yourself is miserable--psychologists know that...And that's also the solution to the problem of introspection...If I ask myself, how am I doing, I come out with one of three answers: well, terribly, or so-so...If I say I'm doing well, I'm a proud, self-righteous, arrogant, self-satisfied, priggish Pharisee; if I say I'm doing lousy, I'm a miserable worm with a guilt complex and I need some psychiatry; and if I say I'm sort of fair to midland then I'm dull, wishy-washy, Charlie Brown...So what's the solution?...Don't look at yourself...Take your temperature when you're sick, otherwise look at other people and God...They're much more interesting...The first step is to try to forget about yourself altogether...Your real self, your new self, will not come as long as you are looking for it...It will come only when you're looking for Him.”...“Indifference is more truly the opposite of love than hate is, for we can both love and hate the same person at the same time, but we cannot both love and be indifferent to the same person at the same time.”...“Everything smaller than Heaven bores us because only Heaven is bigger than our hearts.”...“Those who meet Jesus always experience either joy or its opposites, either foretastes of Heaven or foretastes of Hell...Not everyone who meets Jesus is pleased, and not everyone is happy, but everyone is shocked.”...“God gives us not only the truth but also the ability to believe it; not only the new thing to see but also the new eye to see it with.”...“Love gives you eyes.”...
