Psalm 19:1-14
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
11 By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Proverbs 16:1-9
Through LOVE and Faithfulness Sin is Atoned For
1 To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.
2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.
4 The Lord works out everything to its proper end—
even the wicked for a day of disaster.
5 The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.
7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,
he causes their enemies to make peace with them.
8 Better a little with righteousness
than much gain with injustice.
9 In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.
Sometimes I find it difficult to understand how people found salvation without and before Jesus...How can one be saved without a Savior?...But Moses who began writing down the Ten Commandments and other legal principles and commands of God, which were called the Law, or the Law of Moses - we better see Salvation...These Laws and commands were contained in the Torah and is also called the Pentateuch, which are the first five books of the Bible...The written Torah (“teaching”) and first five books of the Old Testament provided the Hebrew people with a set of laws and moral laws...A set of rules for them to follow...The Law was also to protect Israel, to keep them from sinning and abandoning and being disobedient to God...Those who followed the Law were following God...The Law revealed to all that the Hebrews that God had set the Israelites apart from others...And the Law which was hard for us to understand and even harder to follow shows us our need for a Savior...The Law sets the standard for holiness and teaches what qualifies as sin, a fault we might have, and the shortcomings of man tryin to do what is morally right...Because we sin and are disobedient to God, we see the need for help in the Law and in following Him and His rules...So the final and most important purpose the Bible gives for the Mosaic Law is that it reveals humanity’s need for a Savior...And that Savior is Christ our LORD...Jesus would fulfill the Law of Moses...Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”...
The Proverbist, before Jesus dwelt on the earth, wrote through love and faithfulness, sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD evil is avoided...Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice...In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps...Jesus said "Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."..."This is the first and great commandment."..."And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."..."On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."...
So God provided a way to Him and Heaven through this Fear of the LORD...The Psalmist says those who followed God's Law, which meant those who did His Will and followed His instructions...Those who followed His commands...God saved His people who were in reverent awe of His holiness...The people who knew that He is in Complete Control...Those who honored God as the God of Great Glory, Majesty, Purity, and Power...Those who were aware of His Holy Presence...Those who followed His Righteous Standards...Those who respected God, obey Him, submitting to His discipline, and those who worshiped God in awe...Those who did His Will...
