Proverbs 19:21
God's Purpose Prevails
21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Author Philip Yancey wrote that “In high school I took pride in my ability to play chess...I joined the chess club, and during lunch hour I could be found sitting at a table with other nerds, poring over books with titles like Classic King Pawn Openings...I studied techniques, won most of my matches, and put the game aside for 20 years...Then I met a truly fine chess player who had been perfecting his skills long since high school, and I learned what it is like to play against a master...Although I had complete freedom to make any move I wished, none of my strategies mattered very much...His superior skill guaranteed that my purposes inevitably ended up serving his own.”...
Good things and bad things happen in our lives, we see this periodically in our family and friends different situations...But are these controlled, or is there this Source that it is involved in each of our daily lives...
God is Grand Chess Master, in that He has Complete Understanding of all things...And He is subtle, very subtle...And in this subtlety, a miracle can happen and we can miss it...And He gives us free will, yet He has the power to take any decision we make or have made and can turn our decisions into what He plans to do with our lives...We make many plans, choices, and decisions in our lives...Some are good and some turn out bad...Now one can believe this or not believe it...You can believe that everything you do has a God-Involvement in it, or you can believe that whatever happens to you is mere luck, and the things that happen in your life just randomly happen...If you believe that God is involved in your life, you have faith, and you have this Great Hope that everything will work out in the end, because you trust in the LORD, and believe that He is involved...If you believe that whatever move you make, good or bad, is just a random life decision, then you have little or no hope of how your life will work out in the end...
Scripture tells us that many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that will prevail...
